This is my story.

It shapes the work I do.

I’m Janine Gilarde, a registered nurse and National Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach. I bring together nearly two decades of nursing experience with Lifestyle Medicine, mind-body approaches, and intuitive practices to support women navigating the changes of midlife—both in their health and in their lives.

My mission
is simple.

To help women navigate the changes of midlife with greater clarity, confidence, and self-trust.

My story.

My interest in health and wellbeing began long before I became a nurse.

In early adulthood, I experienced health challenges that led me to work with a holistic practitioner who helped me look beyond my symptoms and consider the role of food, stress, and other aspects of my daily life. As I began making changes, I felt a profound difference and began to understand how interconnected our health and wellbeing can be.

What we eat matters, but so do movement, sleep, stress, emotional wellbeing, relationships, and the way we care for ourselves.

When I became a registered nurse in 2007, that understanding deepened.

Nursing taught me the importance of good medical care. But working with patients also showed me something that has stayed with me throughout my career:

Knowing what supports our health and being able to live it are two very different things.

Most of us already know many of the things we’re “supposed” to be doing. The harder part is knowing what matters most right now, and finding ways to make it work in real life.

That’s what drew me to health coaching.

Over the years, I continued studying Lifestyle Medicine, nutrition, behavior change, and mind-body approaches, while also deepening my work with Reiki and intuitive practices.

I understand
midlife personally.

By the time I reached midlife, years of nursing, health coaching, Lifestyle Medicine, and my own mind-body practices had shaped how I thought about health and wellbeing.

And then I experienced menopause for myself.

I had knowledge, tools, and healthy practices already in place, but I still had to understand what was happening in my own body and how best to support myself.

At the same time, I found myself looking more closely at my life: my priorities, what mattered to me, and what I wanted from the years ahead.

What does my body need now?
What matters most to me?
What do I want more—or less—of in my life?
What do I want the years ahead to look and feel like?

Where health and life
come together.

Your health isn’t separate from the rest of your life.

Our physical health, emotional wellbeing, relationships, circumstances, beliefs, and sense of self all influence one another.

Sometimes a woman comes to me wanting more energy, better sleep, or to feel more at ease in her body. Other times, she’s wondering what she wants next.

And often, the two are connected.

My approach brings together nearly two decades of nursing experience, evidence-based Lifestyle Medicine, and health and wellness coaching—with space for intuition, self-reflection, and the deeper questions that can surface in midlife.

We can pay attention to what your body needs while also making room for what you need—because both matter.
